Dr Alistair Somerville - Auckland Mens Clinic

Dr. Al Somerville

MBChB 1997 Auckland; FRNZCGP 2006

Dr Alistair Somerville completed a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at Auckland University in 1997. He has worked as a General Practitioner for over 20 years and became a Fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of GPs in 2006. Alistair has a special interest in men’s health and now leads the Auckland Men’s Clinic.

Dr Jake Benson

Dr. Jake Benson

Dr Jake Benson was born and raised in Auckland, where he graduated from the University of Auckland in 2019. He began his career at Rotorua Hospital before returning to Auckland in 2022, where he gained further experience at Auckland City and North Shore Hospitals.

Jake has a special interest in the promotion and protection of sexual health and wellbeing in gay and bisexual men. This interest extends to helping assess and treat medical issues specific to this community. He understands that stigma can be a barrier to seeking care and is committed to providing a supportive, non-judgmental space where sexual health can be discussed freely and confidentially.

He is listed as a HIV Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) provider on the Burnett Foundation. HIV PrEP is a pill combining two medications that when taken as prescribed, can reduce the transmission of HIV by over 90%.
